The Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV) is a public Brazilian higher education institution with around 20,000 students and over 1,200 full professors. Founded in 1926, UFV is considered as the main Brazilian university in Agriculture, with several graduate programs ranked at international level. Nowadays, UFV has become a comprehensive university, with programs also in the areas of Engineering, Humanities and Health. In the last years, important actions regarding internationalization have been developed by the university, including efforts to increase the number of courses offered in English and to increase the number of agreements for double and joint PhD degrees with internationally recognized research institutions. UFV is ranked between the 100 best universities in the world in the areas of Agriculture and Forestry, by the QS World University Rankings.
